About the Author
Tim Brown is CEO of design company IDEO in the US, which he joined in 1987 after graduating from the Royal College of Art in London. He has received numerous awards and his designs have been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Axis Gallery in Tokyo, and the Design Museum in London. Naoto Fukasawa (b.1956) is one of the best-known Japanese product designers working today. Having worked previously for IDEO in the US, he established his own company, Naoto Fukasawa Design, in 2003. He is responsible for the groundbreaking wall-mounted CD player for MUJI and has designed for other renowned companies including Driade and B&B Italia. Antony Gormley (b.1950) is a celebrated English sculptor best-known for his work with metal figures, such as the Angel of the North in Gateshead, UK (1998). He was awarded the Turner Prize in 1994. Kenya Hara (b.1958) is a renowned and award-winning product and graphic designer whose clients have included MUJI. Having established the Hara Design Institute, he is also a representative of the Nippon Design Center and Professor at Musashino Art University in Japan. Bill Moggridge is an industrial designer and co-founder of the influential design company IDEO in the US. His own designs include the first lap-top computer in 1980, the GRiD Compass, and he regularly lectures at various institutions, including the Royal College of Art in London where he is Visiting Professor. Jasper Morrison (b.1959) is one of the most influential British designers working today. His clients include Vitra, Magis and Flos, and he is responsible for classics such as the Family Kitchen containers for Alessi (1998) and the Low Pad Chair (1999) for Capellini. Masato Sasaki (b.1952) is a contributing writer of The Ecological Approach to Design, on which he collaborated with Naoto Fukasawa and Takeshi Goto. He is a specialist in ecological psychology and is presently a professor at the Unversity of Tokyo.

Wendy Carlin is Professor of Economics at University College London and is a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research. She is managing editor of the Economics of Transition and has published widely on macroeconomics, institutions, and transition. David Soskice is Research Professor at Duke University and at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin. He is Centennial Professor in the European Institute at the London School of Economics. He is Emeritus Fellow in Economics at University College, Oxford and has held visiting positions at the Australian National University and the universities of Berkeley, Johns Hopkins Bologna, Cornell, Pisa, Trento and Yale. He has published widely in economics, industrial relations, and political science.

Better as a reference....

I teach intermediate macro at a research university. However, I don't think I could use this book for teaching an undergraduate class. It's better targeted at a non-PhD. macroeconomics graduate class. I have two main criticisms and one main praise. I think the authors needed to pick whether they wanted to be technical, in the vein of Sargent, Romer, etc., or non-technical, like Blanchard or Mankiw. There is a lot of algebra and a lot of notation, but very little calculus. For as much algebra as the book contains, it would be nice to see more constrained optimization, since most of the models presented rearrange FOCs anyway. Also, there's very little exposition that's written at a non-graduate level. This book is pretty terse. It is not written to an audience that is still learning the basics of macroeconomics; it assumes quite a bit of knowledge.

Now the praise: it is an excellent, excellent reference. This book covers growth well. It does well with the IS-LM model. It has a nice chapter about asset markets. It's incredibly thorough with the open economy. I highly recommend this book to instructors who want to nail the intuition in their lectures but find the texts they choose to lack good mathematical descriptions.

wonderful job explaining macroeconomics theory without being disconnected from the real world

I am an undergrad Economics major at a large research university with interests in Macro (especially monetary policy), Financial, and Behavioral. I don't like reading my Economics textbooks, but I found this book very enjoyable. The authors are precise and on-point - I truly appreciate the fact that they don't take a page and a half to explain the most basic concepts. This textbook did a wonderful job explaining macroeconomics theory without being disconnected from the real world. I particularly enjoyed sections discussing "what economists said would happen" vs "what actually happens in real life."

As the requirements for more and diverse types of documentation in medical records increase, the role of the Medical Records/Health Information Clerk in keeping the Health Information Management Department functioning becomes more and more critical. It is the intent of this text to provide basic information that will make the entry-level Medical Records/Health Information Clerk immediately effective.

Chapters 1 and 2 provide an overview of the Medical Records/Health Information Clerk function and the Health Information Management Department. Chapters 3, 4, 5, and 6 teach the student filing and retrieval, record processing, assembly, and analysis. Chapter 7 discusses working with physicians in the Physician Incomplete Area. Chapter 8 deals with confidentiality and release of information, and Chapter 9 discusses other functions to which a Medical Records/Health Information Clerk may be assigned. Each chapter discusses computerization of documentation and the functions of a Health Information Management Department, where applicable.

The text of Being a Medical Records/Health Information Clerk is designed to be used as a reference. Each chapter begins with a vocabulary of pertinent terms used in the chapter and specific objectives of the subject matter. Frequent headings and subheadings are identified throughout each chapter. The summary reviews the main points of the chapter. Learning activities at the end of each chapter give the student an opportunity to put into use the ideas discussed.

Examples and opinions expressed as to the most effective means of performing a function are the author's opinion based on training, experience, and networking with colleagues. Amazing New Chapter for the Question Legacy!

"Pipeline" collects stories that were originally issued as a co-feature in the Detective Comics #854-865. In this story, we see Renee Montoya finally fully accepting her role as the Question. She's living in a lighthouse off the coast of North Carolina and running a detective agency with the tenuous assistance of Tot, friend and aide to the former Question, Vic Sage.

This case puts Renee knee deep in a human trafficking ring, testing both her brains and her brawn as she searches for a missing woman. She trades both punches and wisecracks with extreme ease, but as she uncovers more about the trafficking ring, she calls for backup from an old Gotham friend--the Huntress. Together the two embark on a worldwide tour uncovering crime and conspiracy, and eventually leading them to a point where Renee's life will once again change forever.

The one thing I could have liked better about this book is the art. I'm not a huge fan of Cully Hamner's style, particularly the way he draws women's faces. They all look very young and very similar. I did however, like his redesign for some of Renee's wardrobe: whereas the old Question was always in a suit and long trenchcoat, Renee will mix it up and wear a track suit with sneakers, which for some of her parkour acrobatics, is a much more appropriate getup. Still, she maintains the signiature "Question" style.

As far as bonus material, this collection gives you Cully's sketches and handwritten notes on his redesigns of Renee, Tot, and Huntress; some early page layouts from Cully; and interior design work on one of the houses featured in the book. As someone who's always more interested in the writing than the art, I'd love to sometimes see early scripts as a bonus, but for a smaller paperback, what we got was pretty impressive.

Whether you've followed Renee Montoya since her days as a Gotham City Police Officer, or if you're just looking for a new vigilante to root for, I highly recommend this book. Greg Rucka writes the Question and Huntress with amazing ease, probably because he helped develop each of them into the characters that they are today. Both of them strive to make sure Vic would be proud of them, and in this story, he certainly would be.

Rucka's Question never fails to impress

I have the story as it was published in Detective Comics #854-865. Greg Rucka is an exceptional writer, able to imbue character, motivation, and action within the few pages he has available (as the original Pipeline story was a Second Feature in the back of Detective Comics). I've loved Cully Hammer's art ever since his run on Blue Beetle. He injects dynamic motion into The Question and makes it a quick, action packed read. I hope DC will reprint this so one doesn't have to pay double for it, as it is a fantastic detective story featuring Renee Montoya as The Question.

The Question Light

Renee Montoya as the question is a fun and interesting approach to the idea of the character. The story is well written and well executed and I definitely enjoyed it. However, it isn't quite as good as the Vic Sage version written by Dennis O'Neil. The heavy philosophy isn't present in the same way. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested and I look forward to reading more.

Customer Analytics for smart, busy business people

I've read a lot about predicting with analytics but find many of the introductory books just assume you already know so much. It provides a good foundation in correlations and making comparisons, which are essential tools for making decisions with analytics. I help companies implement better testing strategies to improve their conversion rates. Like in his earlier book, Jeff is able to both explain the technical aspects of A/B testing without it being too academic and show you how it integrates well into a larger customer measurement framework. He provides the essential information on statistical significance and sample size and makes it relevant and easily digestible. I found the Appendix on Predictive Analytics particularly helpful.

For some reason, stats for AB testing and customer analytics is extremely hard to wrap one's head around -- even though the math is not particularly complex. It's almost as if statisticians wanted to cover up the simplicity and practicality of their field with a lot of confusing terms and backwards ideas (down with "The Null Hypothesis"!). Rather than sound like he's talking about something way over your head, Jeff would rather you understand all this stuff, and be able to use it yourself in your business. I get the "Dummies" branding -- but this book should really be called "Customer Analytics for smart, busy business people who want to actually understand this stuff without being put to sleep by a PhD."

About the Author
Janice Bailey holds degrees from Texas Christian University and the University of Utah and is a popular bilingual speaker and educator. She studied with Goiz, using his astounding method since 2000. Mexico's University of Chapingo granted her a diploma in Medical Biomagnetism and Bioenergetic Medicine, publishing her paper on biomagnetism and leukemia. She presently directs and teaches at the Dynamic Wellness Institute in Mexico

BIOENERGETIC BASICS PAR BIOMAGNETO

Hi, since I posted my opinion of this book in 2011, I went to Morelia to Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo Facultad de Quimica Farmacobiologia, who has a place for investigations for the Medical Biomagnetism in the State of Morelia and study AGAIN the Par Biomagneto with Dr. Goiz in order for me to have a DIPLOMADO . I spend three weeks, more than 120 hours of study with Dr. Goiz, did my tesis , got my Diploma , spend over 6.000.oo thousand dollars in Hotels, food studies, etc AND......... the same information that I got the first time with Jose Cruz 2010, on line with Dr. Rolando Bravo en 2009, was at times more helpful that Dr. Goiz,s information. Janice's Bailey book, convey the information that people need to know not only to treat thenself or others. The rest is just pure business . Also I need to acknowledge the discover of this method to Dr. Goiz, but doesn't necessary have to be himself the best teacher. And Still THIS IS THE ONLY RELATIVE GOOD BOOK WRITTEN IN ENGLISH for beginners .. the rest is up to the therapist himself to discover.

Only book in English.....so I bought it!

I went to Dr Goiz seminar this year in Concord, CA. It was amazing. I was very disappointed that we couldn't purchase a book from the seminar in English showing all the points! :-/ (There is a book in Spanish that may be purchased at the seminar showing all the points but.........that doesn't do me any good.) I know Dr Goiz doesn't support this book BUT....So far this book is a huge savior for me! I hope in the near future Dr Goiz offers a book in English that shows all the points!

Very informative and great step by step instructions

Hi,

I think that this book is really a great value and you will learn a lot. Basically I am a total beginner in this area, so for me, it gave me all the essentials to be able to start practicing Biomagnetics. Many books give you something, but not everything. For this book I feel that the author was very generous in giving all very valuable instructions.
