About the Author
Natalia Karoway is a lover of transformation. Through shamanism, yoga, and sacred ceremony, she is devoted to creating a beautiful, safe, and joyful space for our souls to come alive and remember our highest potential. She believes that when we are able to remember, we are able to heal. Natalia officially stepped onto the shamanic path in 2011 when her own soul was calling out for deeper healing and deeper meaning. It was at this time that she experienced transformation unlike any other and in that moment, Natalia truly fell in love with life. Her training started with The Four Winds Society where she received certification in shamanic energy medicine. Upon completion, she began further training under Jose Luis Herrera, diving infinitely deeper into the authentic indigenous medicine of Peru. Natalia has also been blessed enough to receive rites of passage and training from multiple medicine lineages—and from the land itself—in the high Andes of Peru. It is Natalia’s honor to provide sacred healing space for groups. She guides shamanic journeys to explore empowered paths to self healing. She hosts despacho ceremonies, bringing beauty, intention, and service to the practice of prayer. Natalia also teaches yoga fused with shamanic wisdom as a powerful way to physically move stagnant energy. No matter the path, all of her work culminates in allowing you to step fully into a life that you can truly love. Though she is a wanderer at heart, Natalia is currently living and loving in Massachusetts with her web designer husband where they enjoy exploring nature, sitting in ceremony, practicing yoga, and dreaming up their next adventure.

I am familiar with the practices of ceremony from the Andean tradition that Natalia so beautiful, generously and genuinely shares, and this gift literally had me in tears. So much beauty and heart expressed so powerfully yet so simply in Living Sacred Ceremony. Each offering had me wanting to run out and do that particular ceremony myself, right then and there. I also teach ceremony and sacred living in my work, and I will absolutely be recommending and sharing Living Sacred Ceremony with my students. It is a perfect introduction to creating and living with ceremony in our day to day lives, with step by step explanations of both how and why, and leaves plenty of room for personal exploration. Great Suggestions for Ceremonies

This book does an amazing job explaining the basics of ceremony and its personal purpose. I love how this book encourages others to create according to their own personal and internal needs, rather than follow someone else's idea when it comes to ceremony. It ask readers to step outside of the mundane and to create personalized, individual and unique ceremony. More importantly this author suggest by doing this we can put the power of healing back into our own hands thro ceremony and learn to depend on and trust ourselves.

Bringing it together - for you too.

I've 'studied' with Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrance for over 20 years. Putting things in writing from these guys is difficult. If you really want a change in your life and your horses life you will listen, learn, feel, and read this. It's there. Your thoughts in writing. Desire to be better is there, don't dismiss it. This is about your life which has an affect of how you and your horse (other animals, dog, cats etc) and people react to you and you to them. I used many of these ideas in teaching for over 30 years. It is basic to communication. We get too complicated and think of ourselves when communicating. "The horse is trying to be stubborn, the kid is just a teenager, etc". Well, figure out a way to communicate. Oh my, when you do it feels so good to everyone.

If you have to have more written down in order to communicate and have almost simple steps, you will find that Parelli has done so in his DVD's. It is there, in a different format but the bottom line is what Bill Dorrance is trying to tell you.

Leslie has taken the awesome task of organizing Bill's words so those of us who WANT a quick fix to our problems, can get a little closer to that. As Ray Hunt says THINK. It isn't like asking and getting an answer right away. You have to THINK and really FEEL. Some people will never get it, they don't want to think --- just want the quick answer.

This way of communicating is so important for horses and animals. They want you to communicate with them. It isn't easy, you have to read, think. read, think. But oh boy, when it starts to come you will be amazed, find peace in yourself. Give it a try.

Top of the line book

This book is in a league of its own. I have read and reread this book a dozen times. Whenever I get in cross purposes with a horse I read Bill's advice over and over until it sinks in. I have ridden horses for over 60 years and only wish I had this book as a boy, it would have helped me understand so much more about why I was having trouble with my horse. In so many cases had I known what is in this book I would not have had near the trouble communicating with a horse that didn't understand what I was asking. I am just grateful to have found this information while I am still able to work as a partner with my horses. We all agree this is a better deal both ways. There is nothing like the feel a horse can give when the human gets out of the way and allows a horse to demonstrate its true athletic ability. It becomes a ballet of such superior choreography as to defy all logic. The horse and rider becomes as one organism with mutual respect and appreciation. My horses have made me a better human being through the feel they have given me since discovering the material in this book. Such and experience is a life changing experience.

Lots of Excellent Concepts and Direction

I for one am so glad this book was written, then fine tuned. While only part way through as this wonderful tome is not a quick read but something to digest slowly, working on exercises in succession until they are done well has proven immense. "Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect." By investing time in yourself and your horse(s), using this possibly as a new way of thinking about and feeling the horse so s/he can feel of you, progress towards unity is nearly assured. It is the next best thing to having Bill Dorrance himself right next to you.

Varun Soni is the Dean of Religious Life at the University of Southern California, where he is also an Adjunct Professor in the School of Religion and a University Fellow at the Annenberg Center on Public Diplomacy. Splendid Textbook

This may be the best textbook I've ever read. Kleiner has written lots of textbooks--but this is his field of study, so he here combines all he's learned from revising Gardiner's History of Art with real expertise in the particular subject. This is indeed a textbook, written for art history classes, but it avoids the one damn fact after another mode of the vast majority of textbooks, and instead rather brilliantly synthesizes the major trends and developments over the centuries of Roman art. It must of course simplify to do so, but the author is evidently senior enough to have the confidence to simplify (unlike too many of his rivals, who are either constitutionally unable to simplify, or too afraid of what scholarly peers may say in reviews to write in a way that will be intelligible to undergraduates or others new to this area). It's very well produced (though hardly cheap). If you are interested in Roman art, and indeed want something like a series of lectures delivered by very fine teacher, you won't go wrong here. This book will provide you with the grounding to go on to try more specialized books, or with enough background on Roman Art to help inform your study of later periods influenced by the Romans.

An excellent introductory resource

I use this book as the primary text in my class on Roman Art and Archaeology. While it has largely an Art Historical bent, it is still the best, most comprehensive book that is currently available (I switch from Strong's Roman Art that pre-dates this text by a few decades).

The illustrations and images are beautiful, it has snippets of history and text to provide good context, and is organized in a nice, chronological fashion. I would highly recommend it to educators and beginner students who are studying Classical Art History.

Fred Kleiner's book was for me a great introduction to Roman art. In general he traces its development from the introduction of Greek statuary as Marcellus' spoils of war up until the Imperial adoption of Christianity under Constantine. Kleiner primarily uses Roman history as the route for his survey, but he makes a couple of side trips to Pompeii and Ostia along the way. He presents the major trends in artistic styles over the centuries and highlights the influence of technological innovations. He gives an overview of the evolution of Roman architecture from the thatched huts to the elegant temples and public buildings of the high empire, as well as Roman sculpture, painting, mosaics, and gem carving. He presents examples of works that illustrate the basic characteristics that distinguished one era from another. The only area where I felt that the information was deficient was Roman glass. But in general, I think it's an excellent introduction to the subject. The book is rife with high quality color photographs, as well as maps, diagrams, and computer-generated reconstructions of sites that are now only piles of rubble, and a useful glossary at the back. There are sidebars on "Art and Society" (which describe such things as the Roman house, an afternoon at the baths, spectacles in the Colosseum, etc.), "Architectural Basics" (columns, vaults, arches, etc.), "Written Sources," and others that give additional background information on the works studied. Four stars.

It was original and traditional method but was outdated on some point. Other was this book, Tanner and Whitehouse,s method, It,s 3rd edition was published on 2002. About the Author

Timo Rissanen is the Assistant Professor of Fashion Design and Sustainability at Parsons School of Design, The New School, in New York. Research on sustainability in fashion is inseparable from his design practice. Timo's PhD focused on zero waste fashion design.
Holly McQuillan is Senior Lecturer in Design at the College of Creative Arts at Massey University, New Zealand. Her research centres in the field of zero waste fashion design practice-led research. Her research articulates zero waste fashion design through exhibition and writing, and focuses on broad issues of sustainability and their links with risky design practice.

Important, experimental approaches to Fashion design and production..for Everyone!

I learned about this text and the author from Alabama Chanin Journal in April 2016 and bought immediately.
The book is a excellent introduction to the concept of zero waste in fashion design and garment construction. In addition to many photographs, drawings and sketches of the author's and colleagues' patterns and garments, there are specific examples describing the experimental processes from pattern development through garment trials to final garment. The online references offered greatly enhance the book's value and allow the reader to delve into more details and even free, down-loadable patterns for some of the garments discussed in the book. While clearly intended for fashion design students, my only disappointment was that the author did not seek to connect his unique, experimental ideas for fashion design with clothing needs for the general public. This would be an important goal for Rissanen's future research and public outreach/education.

Don't try to use this book without checking out the website. There were a lot of things discovered after the book came out. Holly is brilliant and a great teacher. this is an important work for pattern makers.
